HERSHEY'S Soyfresh products have gained top recognition in the recent iTQi Superior Taste Award 2016.

HERSHEY'S Soyfresh Chocolate was given 2 golden stars award, while HERSHEY'S Soyfresh Cookies 'N' Crème, the top award of 3 golden stars for superior taste and quality.

The International Taste & Quality Institute (iTQi) is an independent organization dedicated to testing and promoting great tasting food and drink from around the world. The iTQi jury comprises prestigious Chefs and Sommeliers from 15 nations to identify exceptional, remarkable, and notable tasting products through a rigorous testing regime.

The accomplishment of 3 golden stars denotes HERSHEY'S Soyfresh Cookies 'N' Crème’s achievement of more than 90% marks while HERSHEY'S Soyfresh Chocolate was granted the 2 stars by receiving 80% to 90% marks.

   
Naturel wins The Malaysian Women’s Weekly Domestic Diva Awards 2016   Malaysia  

Naturel Blend Cooking Oil and Naturel Soft Margarine won The Malaysian Women’s Weekly Domestic Diva Awards 2016 under the best cooking oil and best margarine category respectively.

The winners are voted by the readers of Malaysian Women’s Weekly Magazine (MWW), an English lifestyle magazine with the highest readership and circulation in Malaysia. After compiling votes from readers as well as feedback from a panel of judges, Naturel Blend Cooking Oil and Naturel Soft Margarine came out as the favourite!

Naturel wins the 2015 Asia Excellence Brand Award   Singapore    Malaysia    Thailand  

Naturel achieved a new milestone by winning the 2015 Asia Excellence Brand Award. This award was organised by Yazhou Zhoukan, the only global Chinese regional magazine. Based on votes of the general consumers and survey of business enterprises, winning brands were selected from countries including Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.

The award ceremony was held at Harbour Grand Hotel, Hong Kong on 21 December 2015.

   
Pasir Gudang plant is certified HACCP compliance by MOH   Malaysia  
In July 2015, our refinery, fats and margarine plant at Pasir Gudang is certified HACCP compliance by Ministry of Health Malaysia. Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point or HACCP is a recognised process and system in managing and controlling food safety hazards.

Such certification can expedite the issuance process of Health Certification on our export consignment from 21 days to 3 days.
   
Knife & Buruh won the Reader’s Digest 2015 Trusted Brands Awards   Malaysia  
On 16 June 2015, Knife & Buruh being the leading players, were once again honoured to be recipients of the prestigious Reader’s Digest 2015 Trusted Brand Award™ in the “Cooking Oil” category in Malaysia.

Knife Cooking Oil has won the coveted Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Award (Platinum) while Buruh being a consecutive winner since 2006, received the Gold Award.

Winners were voted entirely by consumers, which truly signified the ultimate seal of consumer approval.

On 11 August 2015, Knife and Naturel were awarded The BrandLaureate Special Edition World Awards 2015 by the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation (APBF). It is a special and prestigious award for Brand Excellent in Consumer - Cooking Oil and Margarine respectively.

The BrandLaureate Special Edition World Awards is a once in a life time award to honour brands that have demonstrated superb brand performance at cities in the world yearly. It is an exclusive By Invitation Only Award reserved for brands that have mastered the science and arts of branding. These brands are distinctive and eminent in their respective field and they are often the chosen or preferred choice.

This Award is another significant encouragement for Knife and Naturel brand journey towards brand immortality.

Knife’s short film has gone viral in social media   Malaysia  
Knife created a short film in conjunction with the Mother’s Day, and received 491,000 viewers in youtube within 8 weeks. The film emphasized on the strong brand value proposition of “一家人齐齐整整”, i.e. family togetherness & bonding. It managed to capture the younger generation of viewers and received a lot of compliments.

Antabax wins 2014 Good Design Award   Malaysia  
2014 saw the Antabax antibacterial personal care range harvesting a bumper crop of accolades and awards for its marketing efforts including for its ground breaking CSR campaigns. The brand has now received an award for its streamlined and modern design aesthetic.

Among the awards were the Brand Laureate Award, the Sin Chew Business Excellence Award, the Star Business Awards (SOBA) and the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award (AREA).

In December, Antabax was awarded the Good Design™ Award by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for the quality of its design that combines form and function to stunning effect.
   

Lam Soon’s Antabax wins the Prestigious Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2014   Malaysia  
Antabax won the prestigious 2014 Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) by Enterprise Asia under the Health Promotion category for its nationwide campaign known as Antabax National Hand Hygiene Campaign 2013.

This award was presented in recognition of its brand’s efforts in promoting good hand hygiene practices among school children through two major projects – Patty Cake and the reality game show, Lat-Tali-Lat.

bio-home has recently won the Natural Health Readers’ Choice Award 2013   Malaysia  
a highly regarded honour and testimony for the best health and beauty brands in the market. The awards given to bio-home are for the best eco- dish wash liquid and best eco-multi-purpose cleaner in its respective categories. The results were collated from more than 7,000 face-to-face interviews with consumers from various road shows, expos and online surveys conducted by Natural Health and A Healthy Lifestyle magazines.

On 28 May 2013, Knife & Buruh Cooking Oils, once again, won the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Award in the cooking oil category in Malaysia for 2013.

Knife cooking oil scored more than three times that of the nearest competitior to receive the Platinum Trusted Brand award, while Buruh cooking oil, with its strong value proposition of ‘Tahan 3X Goreng’, was a consecutive winner since 2006. Both brands continue to gain trust & recognition by the Malaysian consumers.

This award is another strong encouragement for our Knife brand journey towards brand immortality. Concurrently, Antabax also emerged as a winner for the third consecutive year under the product branding awards category for Best Brands in Consumer - Antibacterial Care.
   



Named 1st Runner Up in the Tropical Building category of the prestigious ASEAN Energy Awards   Malaysia  
Lam Soon Edibles Oils Penang Bukit Minyak Distribution Centre was named 1st Runner Up in the Tropical Building Category of the ASEAN Energy Awards, one of only two Malaysian building to achieve this honor.

The ASEAN Energy Awards is a regional competition that provides international recognition to entities that apply the concepts, systems and technology of energy efficiency and conservation. Winners become models in the Asean region to replicate and promote energy-efficient management programs.

LSEO is also proudly unveiled the Bukit Minyak Distribution Centre, the first Green Building Index (GBI) – INC (Industrial New Construction) certified distribution centre, in Malaysia.

It consists of a two storey air-conditioned office building with an estimated Gross Floor Area of 1,400m² and a naturally ventilated warehouse with an estimated GFA of about 12,000 m².

The distribution centre currently enjoys 33% saving in potable water consumption with rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation and sewage flushing. Power consumption achieves 40% improvement, a result of design factors that maximize natural daylight and natural ventilation for cooling such as louvering, low-emissivity glazing and more.

The Bukit Minyak Distribution Centre is the second of the company’s new generation distribution centres for the 21st Century, the first being in Senai, Johor that was commissioned in 2006.

• 2011 Red dot award for communication design, under the auspices of the Red Dot Institute in Germany.

Southern Lion Sdn Bhd wins the Platinum Award of Malaysia Manufacturing Excellence Awards   Malaysia  
Lam Soon (M) Berhad's joint venture with Lion Corporation of Japan, Southern Lion Sdn. Bhd., emerged as the sole winner of the prestigious Platinum Award out of 60 odds applications from the process, engineering, automobile and pharmaceutical industries in Malaysia in the inaugural Malaysia Manufacturing Excellence Awards organised by US- based Frost & Sullivan Growth Consulting Company held in Kuala Lumpur on April 2, 2009.

In the on-site assessment, the nominees were judged on 12 parameters, ranging from "Innovation Adaption", "Orderliness, Safety and Environment", "Focus On Customers", "Supply Chain & Inventory Management". Southern Lion scored well particularly in "Innovation Adaptation" and, "Focus on Customers".

The Award was presented by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Datuk Dr. Maximus Ongkili, and it was received on behalf of Southern Lion by its Production & Technical Director, Mr. H. Kimura.

Naturel Cooking Oil won Malaysia’s most prestigious advertising awards competition: 2008 Malaysian Kancil Awards for Naturel Radio Commercial   Malaysia  

Last November 2008, Naturel cooking oil won the Radio Merit award in the 2008 Malaysian Kancil Awards for its 60 seconds Chinese radio commercial entitled ‘Caring is the Best Nutrient’.

The merit award was unanimously decided by a jury panel that consisted of local and international judges. All but one of the foreign judges are representatives from independent agencies

In October 2008, our plant at Teluk Panglima Garang has been accredited with certificate of foreign quasi drug manufacturer by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan. With this recognition by the Japanese authority, the factory has achieved a new milestone and is now able to produce soap products with Japanese non-sterile quasi drug status.

Lam Soon Plantations Sdn Bhd has joined as a member of the Roundtable On Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

RSPO is an association created by organisations which are engaged in and around the entire supply chain of palm oil. It aims to promote the growth and use of sustainable palm oil through cooperation within the supply chain and open dialogue with its stakeholders.

Achieving Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand status is a genuine recognition of consumer' approval.
Being named a Trusted Brand means a brand is truly top-of-mind among consumer. The survey is based on responses to questionnaires distributed via Reader’s Digest copies as well as telephone interviews of randomly selected, upscale consumers. All survey work is carried out for Reader’s Digest by Nielsen Media Research, a world leader in international media research and analysis, to ensure results are compiled in an objective manner using proven statistical techniques.

On 1st November, Lam Soon’s Knife brand cooking oil was awarded the exclusive International Brand Summit – Golden Brand Award 2006 for its heritage brand status and strong brand presence in Singapore and Malaysia.

The Golden Brand Award, a part of the International Brand Summit held in Singapore, was presented in recognition of strong emerging Asian brands and to encourage corporate branding among Chinese entrepreneurs in the Asia Pacific region.
   
OHSAS is an acronym for Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series.   Malaysia  
This Management System serves as a guideline to the organization to control OH&S risks associated with activities and improvement of OH&S performance.

On January 2006, Pacific Oleo’s Pasir Gudang site was successfully recommended for the achievement of the OHSAS 18001 certification by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Ltd. The original certification was later obtained on 12th April 2006. This certification is significant to the existing QHSE Management System which has always emphasized on Occupational Safety and Health since its early establishment. The implementation of OHSAS 18001 shall further strengthen and complement the Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) System which has been in place since 2004.

In August 2005, Knife brand was among the 24 winners of the inaugural Heritage Brand Award - a new feature of Singapore Promising Brand Award (SPBA) 2005. The award served to acknowledge and pay special tribute to time-honoured home-grown brands. The final 24 was selected from over a hundred nominations by a distinguished panel of judges from business, journalism and academia based on merits of brand establishments, national recognition, the brand's delivery of promise and overseas presence for over 40 years.

Responsible Care (RC) is the global chemical industry’s environmental, health and safety (EHS) initiative to drive continuous improvement in performance.   Malaysia  
Pacific Oleochemicals (formerly known as Akzo Nobel Oleochemicals) has committed as a signatory to the voluntary initiative since it was launched by Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM) in 1994. The RC Awards was aimed to provide recognition to Responsible Care signatories that have made most progress in implementing the Six Codes of Management Practices.

For the RC Awards 2005, Pacific Oleo again emerged the overall winner for the Oleochemicals category; by winning all the six (6) Codes of Management Practices, namely:

Knife wins the 2005 Reader’s Digest Asia SuperBrand Gold Awards   Malaysia  

On 28th April 2005, Knife brand received the SuperBrand 2005 Gold Awards from Reader's Digest Asia. During this Reader's Digest 2005 SuperBrand consumer Survey, Reader's Digest distributed 180,000 questionnaires across Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philipines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand; asking their readers to nominate their favourite brands. In addition to processing responses from this group, Reader's Digest also commissioned Nielson Media Research to interview thousands of consumer by telephone with the same questions.

They were asked to access their nominated brands for the core values of Quality, Value, Strengh of Image, Trustworthiness and how well each brand Understands the consumers needs. Based on this survey, Knife was again voted by readers of Reader's Digest as their SuperBrand for the 6th consecutive years.

The development of the food safety systems in our factories gained momentum as our cooking oil plant at Telok Panglima Garang successfully implemented the HACCP system. The system was accredited by SGS in January 2005.

Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point or HACCP is an internationally recognized approach in managing and controlling food safety hazards. Recognising the importance of an overall food safety management system, our refinery, fats & margarine plant at Pasir Gudang, Johor has successfully implemented the HACCP system and was accredited by the European Quality Assurance (EQA) in September 2004.

The HACCP system and certification is an assessment for assurance in food safety. Akzo Nobel OleochemicalsSdnBhd is the first and only oleochemical plant in the Far East to be accredited with the HACCP status.

On 28 March 2002, Lloyd (LRQA) re-certified Southern Lion under the new ISO 9001:2000 version. This was achieved after several months of hard work changing over from the old to the new version. To better prepare itself, Southern Lion has targeted achieving the ISO 14001 in year 2003 and also, a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) plant for the personal-care product line in the near future.

In conjunction with Malaysia Giant's 2001 Supplier Charity Dinner, Lam Soon (M) Berhad was awarded the Best Service Supplier of the Year Award (2001) for the Category of Cooking Oil. The award was given for the contribution of service level, sales and profitability to Giant in the Cooking Oil category. Lam Soon (M) Berhad was also awarded the Category Management Award 2001 (Cooking Oil) in recognition for the active role played as the Category Captain for cooking oil. The award was given for the excellent service level, trade marketing support and re-merchandizing support for current and new outlets opening.
   
Knife is the sole recipient of the 2001 Reader's Digest SuperBrand Platinum award in the cooking oil category, following the consecutive SuperBrand Gold awards won in 1999 and 2000.   Malaysia
