Lam Soon Malaysia began
operation in 1958 milling and refining copra. The oil
extracted was used to make laundry soap and cooking
oil. The earliest branded products then were Axe
and Labour, names that stood
for the Lam Soon work ethic. From this humble beginning,
Lam Soon progressively diversified into the manufacture
of toilet soap (under the brand Orchid),
margarines and shortening using palm oil as raw material.

1970
saw Lam Soon becoming the pioneer of the palm oil refining
industry when it built Malaysia's first oil fractionation
plant to manufacture cooking oil. Recognizing the potential
of palm oil, Lam Soon moved upstream and established plantations
in both East and Peninsular Malaysia. |
By 1985 Lam Soon's oil and soap
manufacturing businesses were restructured into Lam Soon (M)
Berhad to comply with the country’s New Economic Policy.

In 1987, Lam Soon (M) Berhad
and Lion Corporation Japan incorporated Southern Lion
as an equal joint venture. The Company is based in Tebrau,
Johor and produces detergents, home care products and
markets oral and beauty care products.

Southern Nissin Bio-Tech Sdn Bhd was set up in 1994 as a joint venture between Lam Soon (M) Berhad, Nisshin Oil Mills Ltd and Mitsubishi Corporation Japan to develop and market special edible oil made from bio-technology process.

downstream was realised when Lam Soon (M) Berhad
entered into a joint venture with Akzo Nobel, a
Dutch chemical multinational, to set up an oleochemical
complex for the manufacture of distilled fatty acids
and refining glycerin for the international market. |

| In 1997, Lam Alliance
International Ltd was incorporated in Hong Kong
as a subsidiary of Lam Soon (M) Berhad to import
and market beauty soap in the people's republic
of China. |

1998 marked
another milestone for Lam Soon (M) Berhad, when it moved
its production of cooking oil and manufacturing of soap
to its new location in Teluk Panglima Garang, Selangor.
The new plant is equipped with modern machinery and fully
computerized cranes capable to handle more efficient operation
to meet the diverse customer's requirement. |
The new plant is also certified with ISO 9002 standard
for both packing of cooking oil, margarine and manufacturing
of soap and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
for production of soap. |

By 1999, Lam Soon acquired Lam Soon Edible Oils Sdn. Bhd.
(formerly known as Pacific Edible Oil Industries ) - edible
oil refinery company, and Pacific Soap Manufacturing - a soap
chip manufacturer, integrating overall production capabilities
and efficiencies.

November 2001, we relocated to new corporate headquarters
at the Hicom-Glenmarie Industrial Park. This features
upgraded facilities to cater for the continuous growth
of the Lam Soon Group of Companies. |

Lam
Soon (M) Berhad's state-of-the-art finishing line located
in Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor began operation in
mid 2002. Apart from its high performance, it has many
other unique features and capable of producing soap of
single formulations into different shapes, sizes or wrapping
designs. |
The plant has been certified with ISO 9001:2000 in recognition
of our continuous efforts towards product Quality and
Customer Satisfaction. Most recently, it has also been
certified with ISO 14001 in recognition of our compliance
to an Environmentally Friendly Management System.
With effect from 1 January 2003, Lam Soon (M) Berhad
restructured its operations whereby its subsidiary, Lam
Soon Edible Oils Sdn Bhd (LSEO) would undertake its operating
activities, including the businesses of manufacturing,
marketing, sales, trading, distribution and export of
edible oils and fats, household and personal care products.
Thereafter, Lam
Soon (M) Berhad became an investment company,
organised for acquisitions and growth.

In September 2006, LSEO opened Lam Soon Senai Complex, in
the state of Johor, the first
Distribution Center (DC) built in the 21st century
and representing the first of a new generation of DC.

This DC is equipped with intelligent warehouse management
system and reinforce our growing distribution network and supply chain.
Besides the DC, the Complex
|

also houses a Sales Office for Southern Region and a Bakery & Demo Kitchen.

|

|
Today, we have established
a fully integrated group of companies in palm oil industry
from plantation / oil milling to refinery, soap and
detergents manufacturing to oleochemicals and marketing
distribution of branded consumer products.
